This copper choker and earring set was designed and made entirely by myself. I make this only from high grade jewelry wire and each piece has it’s own unique personality. Your set should look very much like the pictures but please remember they are handmade and no two are exactly alike.

This is for the most part a one size fits all. Due to the design and the copper it can be gently bent to fit almost any neck.

Every time I wear my own set the compliments roll in so I know you or that someone you are shopping for will love these.

Copper is my favorite metal. I love the feel and look of it and I hope these brings you as much pleasure wearing these as it does me.

Contrary to popular belief, mermaids are not human or fish at all. They are mammals with the appearance of a human being above the pelvis and the appearance of dolphins or whales below. All mammals are warm-blooded and have hair, and all female mammals have mammary glands (breast and nipples for feeding young). Fish have a completely different anatomy. Mermaids do appear to have scales, but it is possible that this is in fact a pattern or camouflage that resembles scales. Some species of mermaid also have twin-tails and there are even some that are completely humanoid in appearance, apart from scale-like skin and dolphin-like biology (sonar, respiratory, circulatory and skeletal systems). The mermaid is also known to have both a Caucasian or Negro complexion and some sighted have a greenish appearance.

Biological functions

Mermaids have organs in their chest that can operate as a lung or a gill, depending on whether they are in or out of the water. The organ expands and contracts exactly like a lung, yet has the ability to extract oxygen from the water. This allows the mermaid to ‘breathe’ water in the same way that they breathe air – by filling and evacuating the chest cavity. This organ is also needed to operate the larynx. The human larynx cannot operate under the water as it cannot be made to vibrate from water pressure, yet the mermaids larynx operates equally well using water or air. The mermaid circulatory system is also designed to withstand differing water pressures like that of the dolphin and whale, while the skeleton is light and pliable like those of a bird or dolphin. The lenses of mermaid eyes are also different and are able to correctly focus for use both above and under water. A mermaid is also able to hear on a different level to humans and has the ability to use sonar for communication and hunting purposes underwater.

Reproduction

In mermaids, reproduction is much like that of dolphins. The reproductive organs of both the male and female are akin to the dolphin and whale, and mermaid babies are born live (as opposed to hatched from eggs).

Diet
The mermaid mostly eats fish, seaweed, and other edible things found in or near the sea. There are some species of mermaid that may feed solely on human flesh, but this has not been confirmed.

Habitat

Mermaids can be found in large bodies of water a around the world. The mermaid is able to exist equally on land and in the sea, although it can become dehydrated if on land for extended periods of time. Most mermaids live in schools or pods, but some are known to travel as hermits.

Demographics

Physical characteristics vary depending on habitat. The classic mermaid portrayed as having a torso similar to a modern model is found mainly in tropical regions while mermaids found in more temperate regions have a higher percentage of body fat.

Unfortunately, due to an extreme amount of hunting over the years the population has dwindled alarmingly and is now considered a highly endangered species.

The mermaid is a highly intelligent and extremely mischievous creature. This has allowed them to survive in even highly dived areas without being detected. For instance, the mermaids that populate The Great Barrier Reef have been known collect scuba equipment and donning them, imitate divers by showing only their upper bodies.

Comic Con 2011 Ticket Woes and Costumes

Ok, I’ve decided upon the costumes for Comic Con 2011, despite the fact that like most everyone else I have yet to get my hands on a ticket. Twice SDCC’s attempts to make tickets available has failed. Why should they care? They know that there is such a demand for ticket’s that no matter how atrocious their customer service is they will still make just as much money. Of course they had they’re little test of selling 1000, but I’m pretty sure that didn’t work out so well. I’ve heard of only a few people actually getting a ticket, and people were locked out as soon as it opened.

Anyway, here’s the costumes for 2011, what’s do you guys think? Oh and what do you think about the plans to add on to the Convention
Center?

Evil Overlord List

Being an Evil Overlord seems to be a
good career choice. It pays well, there are all sorts of perks and you can set
your own hours. However every Evil Overlord I’ve read about in books or seen in
movies invariably gets overthrown and destroyed in the end. I’ve noticed that
no matter whether they are barbarian lords, deranged wizards, mad scientists or
alien invaders, they always seem to make the same basic mistakes every single
time. With that in mind, allow me to present…

The Top 100 Things I’d Do

If I Ever Became An Evil Overlord

1. My Legions of Terror will have helmets with clear
   plexiglass visors, not face-concealing ones.
2. My ventilation ducts will be too small to crawl
   through.
3. My noble half-brother whose throne I usurped will be
   killed, not kept anonymously imprisoned in a forgotten cell of my dungeon.
4. Shooting is not too good for my enemies.
5. The artifact which is the source of my power will not
   be kept on the Mountain of Despair beyond the River of Fire guarded by the
   Dragons of Eternity. It will be in my safe-deposit box. The same applies
   to the object which is my one weakness.
6. I will not gloat over my enemies’ predicament before
   killing them.
7. When I’ve captured my adversary and he says,
   “Look, before you kill me, will you at least tell me what this is all
   about?” I’ll say, “No.” and shoot him. No, on second
   thought I’ll shoot him then say “No.”
8. After I kidnap the beautiful princess, we will be
   married immediately in a quiet civil ceremony, not a lavish spectacle in
   three weeks’ time during which the final phase of my plan will be carried
   out.
9. I will not include a self-destruct mechanism unless
   absolutely necessary. If it is necessary, it will not be a large red
   button labelled “Danger: Do Not Push”. The big red button marked
   “Do Not Push” will instead trigger a spray of bullets on anyone
   stupid enough to disregard it. Similarly, the ON/OFF switch will not
   clearly be labelled as such.
10. I will not interrogate my enemies in the inner sanctum
    — a small hotel well outside my borders will work just as well

Costumes for Comic Con 2011

Well, today Comic Con has been over for exactly a week and I’m already planning for next year.

The fourth Doctor, while not as popular as Link, was more popular than I expected so it will be coming back next year. Now I just need to find a guy’s suit for my Tenth costume and we’ll be set to go.

Link will defiantly be coming back next year. I was very surprised with just how popular Link was, I love surprises :-P. Now, to see if my sheik costume will fit a guy. I made it for me but I bet it will transfer just fine.

Now to the new costumes.

I bought these and I simply must make a costume for them.

As for clothes I bought a lacy/leafy looking shirt and then over that I’m making a cute short leather vest from a leather jacket. I’ll also be making arm bracers from that jacket. This is the green shirt with the very roughest of cuts for the vest so far.

 

I’m going to also have organic looking  jewelry, leather arm bands, and I’ll be wearing my belt and bags from my Link costume so I have a place to carry things.

I’m also making a “skirt”. It’s going to be two pieces of fabric attached to a light belt. I’m making this from this scarf.

 

And I’ll be carrying a pan flute

 

So, super excited about this costume! 😀

What it really means to be a christian woman

Today I have been contemplating about what it means to be a Christian woman. I mean what it REALY means to live as one of God’s own, how different my life is at its very core from so many of those around me. Think about it.

We live our lives knowing how absolutely beautiful and gorgeous we are. How do we know? Because the most amazing person went through the worst battle and greatest trials just so He could spend the rest of His life with us. That means eternity! Someone really doeas want to spend forever with us! Because we are beautiful!

We go through life knowing that no matter what happens and no matter how we feel someone is always ALWAYS there loving us, encouraging us, making us strong, fighting for us. We can look at every flower, hear every bird, feel every warm breeze touching our skin and know that He had us in mind when he created it. Every beautiful thing is for us! Touch, taste, sight, smell, He really did have us in mind.

We are real women. So soft we hurt when we see someone’s pain. So confident we know we can accomplish anything. So fierce we will give our lives for what is right and those we love. So gentle we can reach out and love anyone who needs us.

We are the princesses, beautiful and strong, going on our own adventures, fighting the bad guys, helping those in need, and if things ever become too much for us to handle He’s always there to take care of it.

 Imagine, we don’t have to be afraid. We don’t have to wonder who we are. We don’t have to wonder if we are beautiful. We live our lives singing and dancing, and sharing our light, our joy with those around us.

So what it means to be a Christian woman is not about what we have to do or what we aren’t allowed to do. It is about how free we are. How strong we are. How absolutely happy we are.

True love

There comes a point in every relationship where the nostalgia wears off and doubts start to creep in. Doubts about them, doubts about yourself, doubts your relationship, even doubts about whether you are truly in love with this person or if it was just your imagination.

This is a critical and very hazardous time in relationships because somehow in today’s society people have gotten to the point where they think that true love never reaches this stage. They think that the feeling of perfection and wonder felt in the beginning of a relationship is supposed to last forever.

It is at this point where you start to feel feelings of “dislike” for your partner and your rose colored glasses are falling off that that someone else may start to look “less fault ridden”, “less annoying”, “more interesting”. Chances are your partner’s sex appeal has worn off and others are starting to catch your eye more than before.

It is at this point that you decide whether you are truly in love with this person. Yes it’s a choice. You are finally starting to see the real person and you have to decide whether your love is selfish or true. If your love is selfish then you will want to find someone else because this person is no longer making you feel those highs of emotion that they once did. And you should understand that nobody will be able to make you feel this way forever. If you love is true then you will want to take very careful look at how well you personalities get along, habits, skills, money, etc. You will have to decide if you are willing to make the sacrifices required to make spending the rest of your life together as good as it can be. You will have realize that there will be times when you hate your partner and also that there will be times that you will feel a love for that person deeper then you can even imagine right now.

So if you’ve reached this point in your relationship, then stop, think, and decide.  This may not be the right person for you or you could be getting a taste of reality. Just don’t expect a “happily ever after” without a lot of bumps and sacrifices along the way. It doesn’t even happen in movies, that’s why “happily ever after” movies end when they get married.
